STA Award in Teaching Swimming

Open to learners aged 16 years and over, this award is an ideal starting point for those looking to enter the profession, offering a structured, practical pathway into the world of swimming education.

STA Safety Award for Teachers

The STA Safety Award for Teachers is a nationally recognised qualification that provides swimming teachers with essential water safety and rescue skills. It is designed for environments where a qualified lifeguard is not present, ensuring teachers can respond confidently in emergencies.

This award is a suitable alternative to the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) and is open to anyone aged 14 years and above, making it an accessible route into water safety for younger aspiring teachers.

STA Baby and Pre-School Swimming

The STA Award in Aquatic Teaching – Baby and Pre-School qualifies teachers to deliver swimming sessions for adults and their babies, from as young as 3 months up to 4 years old. It focuses on building water confidence, safety, and bonding through play-based, child-led activities.

To enrol, you simply need to be 18 or over and hold a valid safeguarding certificate, which can be easily completed onlineβ€”making this an accessible and rewarding first step into teaching early years aquatic classes.
